A tragic accident occurred in Jalaun district on Saturday night when a bus carrying 40 members of a marriage party overturned and fell into a ditch after being hit by a speeding dumper. Five people lost their lives, while over 15 others sustained injuries. The collision was so severe that the roof of the bus was torn apart and landed on the other side of the road.
The deceased were identified as Kuldeep Singh, Raghunandan, Sirobhan, Karan Singh, and Vikas, while the injured were admitted to the Madhogarh Community Health Center for treatment. Later, many critically injured individuals were referred to the Orai Medical College, where the DM Chandni Singh visited to assess their condition.
The accident occurred when all the members of the groom’s side were returning to Madeira in a bus after attending a wedding in Rampura. The speeding dumper hit the bus, causing it to overturn and fall into a roadside ditch. The police were informed by local residents and passers-by and immediately launched a rescue operation to help the trapped passengers.
Superintendent of Police Jalaun Iraj Raja reached the spot to take charge of the situation and stated that the driver of the dumper fled the scene after the accident. The police are currently searching for the driver using CCTV footage from the area.
The incident is a tragic reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of road safety. Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased, and we hope for a speedy recovery for those who were injured.
